Pixa: Photo Viewer Privacy Policy
Pixa: Photo Viewer — Privacy Notice
Summary
Pixa is a lightweight, folder‑based photo viewer for macOS. The app runs locally and is designed to respect your privacy: it does not collect personal data by default and does not send your photos off your Mac without your explicit consent.
What Pixa accesses and why
Photos & Files: Pixa asks for access only to the folders you choose (via the system Open/Folder picker) so it can display images, thumbnails, and metadata. Files remain on your device and are not uploaded or shared unless you explicitly use a sharing feature.
Camera / Microphone: Pixa does not use the camera or microphone.
Network / Internet: Pixa does not upload your images automatically. Network access is used only when you explicitly choose actions that require it (for example, sharing a file via the system share sheet, or checking for updates if you enable that option).
Diagnostic Logs & Crash Reports: Optional crash and diagnostic reports help us fix bugs. These are anonymized by default and sent only if you opt in. They do not include your photos or personal files.
Analytics: Pixa does not collect usage analytics by default. If you enable optional analytics to help improve the app, only non-identifying usage metrics (feature usage counts, app version, and crash frequency) are collected. You can disable analytics at any time in Settings.
Third‑party services
If you choose to use an optional cloud or AI feature (e.g., cloud backup, AI inpainting, or online image enhancement), Pixa will make that explicit before uploading any file. These features use third‑party services; when you enable them, files are uploaded to the selected service under its terms and privacy policy. We will always require your consent before any upload. We recommend reviewing the third‑party provider’s privacy policy before enabling cloud features.
Local processing and storage
Pixa performs image viewing, thumbnail generation, and optional basic edits (rotate, crop) locally on your Mac. Non‑destructive edits are stored locally in the app’s working area or next to the original file only if you choose to save/export them. Pixa does not keep copies of your photos in our servers.
Data retention and deletion
Files you open with Pixa remain under your control. Temporary cache and thumbnails are stored locally and can be cleared in Settings. If you uninstall Pixa, its local cache and app data are removed; if you want to ensure no traces remain, you can delete the app support folder (instructions will be provided in-app).
Security
Pixa follows standard macOS security practices and relies on system file permissions. We encourage using FileVault and a secure macOS user account. Any data sent to optional third‑party services is transmitted over TLS/HTTPS.
Legal & children
Pixa is intended for adult use. If minors use the app, parental supervision is recommended. We do not knowingly collect personal data from children.
Contact & changes
If you have privacy questions or requests (data deletion, support), contact us at [support@yourdomain.com]. We may update this privacy notice to reflect app changes; material updates will be posted in the app and on our website.
Short version (one sentence)
Pixa runs locally, does not collect or upload your photos by default, and only shares files when you explicitly ask it to (for example, via a share action or opt‑in cloud/AI feature).
