Duo Screen: Split Screen Privacy Policy
Privacy Policy for Duo Screen: Split Screen
Effective date: October 17, 2026
Developer: SoftLighter
App package: `com.softlighter.duoscreen`
SoftLighter respects your privacy. This policy explains how Duo Screen: Split Screen ("Duo Screen") accesses, uses, stores, and shares information when you use the Android app.
What Duo Screen does
Duo Screen helps you select two installed apps, open them in Android split-screen mode, save app pairs, and create home-screen shortcuts. You can optionally enable a floating Quick split button to choose two apps without saving a pair. The app does not require a Duo Screen account or provide cloud synchronization.
Installed apps and saved choices
To show the app picker, Duo Screen asks Android for apps that expose a launchable activity. It uses their names, icons, and package identifiers so you can select the apps to open. Duo Screen does not request the `QUERY_ALL_PACKAGES` permission. We do not upload your installed-app list to a SoftLighter server or use that list for advertising.
Your saved app pairs, shortcut names, Quick split setting, language choice, and Pro entitlement flag are stored locally on your device. When you create a home-screen shortcut, its label, icon, and information needed to open the selected pair are provided to your Android launcher. Android may include local app data in device backups if backup is enabled in your device settings.
AccessibilityService
If you choose to enable it, Duo Screen uses Android's AccessibilityService to request the system split-screen action when you launch a pair of apps. When you enable Quick split, the same service displays the floating button over other apps so you can open the app picker. Duo Screen shows an in-app explanation before directing you to Android's Accessibility settings; you decide whether to enable the service.
Android may deliver window-change events to the service, but Duo Screen does not inspect or retain their contents. The service does not retrieve screen content, record the screen, capture text, or collect or share data through AccessibilityService. You can turn off the Quick split button in Duo Screen and disable the AccessibilityService at any time in Android Settings.
Advertising and privacy choices
The free version uses the Google Mobile Ads SDK (AdMob) to display banner ads. Depending on your device, location, consent choices, and Google's settings, that SDK may automatically collect and share your IP address, app interaction information, diagnostic information, and device or account identifiers (including the Android advertising ID when available). Google uses this information for advertising, measurement, and fraud prevention. An IP address may be used to estimate a general location. Duo Screen does not provide your saved app pairs or installed-app list to AdMob.
Where required, the app uses Google's User Messaging Platform to present advertising consent choices. When Google makes a privacy-options form available, you can reopen it from Duo Screen's settings. You can also manage or reset your Android advertising ID in your device settings. Purchasing Duo Screen Pro removes ads from Duo Screen; it does not erase information Google may have processed before the purchase.
For details about Google's handling of information, see [Google's Privacy Policy](https://policies.google.com/privacy) and [How Google uses information from sites or apps that use its services](https://policies.google.com/technologies/partner-sites).
In-app purchase
If you buy Duo Screen Pro, the purchase is processed by Google Play Billing. Google handles your payment information under its own privacy policy. Duo Screen receives purchase and entitlement information needed to unlock Pro features and stores a local entitlement flag. We do not receive your payment card number.
Sharing and security
SoftLighter does not sell your saved app pairs, installed-app list, or AccessibilityService data. Information may be processed by Google as described above for advertising, consent management, purchases, and Android backup or launcher features. Duo Screen keeps its own settings and saved pairs in Android app-private storage. Data transmitted by Google's advertising services is encrypted in transit by Google. Please review Google's privacy policy for its security practices.
Retention and deletion
Saved pairs and settings remain on your device until you delete them, clear Duo Screen's app data, or uninstall the app. A shortcut placed on your home screen may need to be removed separately from your launcher. Android backups, if enabled, are controlled by your device and Google account settings. Google retains advertising and purchase information according to its own policies and applicable requirements; deleting Duo Screen does not necessarily delete information held by Google. You can manage advertising choices through the app's privacy-options form when available and through Android settings.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy when the app or its data practices change. The latest version will show its effective date at the top.
